This is a highly efficient lamp, available in various beam spreads. Fixtures are available with either a 'short' or 'long' housing, to add some control of flare and glare. Generally the photometrics of a PAR64 fixture is the same as the photometrics of the lamp used. For this reason, lamps, not fixtures are listed below: LAMP Description Field Beam Candela Watts C.Temp Hrs. ====================================================================== Q1000PAR64/1 FFN -VNSP 10x24 6x12 400,000 1Kw. 3200K 800 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Q1000PAR64/2 FFP -NSP 14x26 7x14 330,000 1Kw. 3200K 800 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Q1000PAR64/5 FFR -MFL 21x44 12x28 125,000 1Kw. 3200K 800 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Q1000PAR64/6 FFS -WFL 45x71 24x48 40,000 1Kw. 3200K 800 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Q1000PAR64/3D FGM -NSP 12X24 6x13 200,000 1Kw. 5200K 200 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Q1000PAR64/7D FGN -MFL 20X43 11x27 70,000 1Kw. 5200K 200 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Q1000PAR64/NSP PAR64-NSP 14x31 8x15 200,000 1Kw. 2950K 4000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Q1000PAR64/MFL PAR64-MFL 22x45 12x28 80,000 1Kw. 2950K 4000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Q1000PAR64/WFL PAR64-WFL 45x72 24x48 33,000 1Kw. 2950K 4000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ====================================================================== BEAM SPREAD - calculations 101 ====================================================================== BEAM SPREAD All tables show a FIELD ANGLE for each fixture. This angle, (in degrees) is the spread angle of the beam, where the central intensity drops to 10%. The field angle is used for most BEAM SPREAD calculations, as this angle best defines the 'maximum useful' angle of light from the fixture. All beam spread calculations depend on the relationship between fixture FIELD ANGLE, DISTANCE and BEAM DIAMETER. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Calculate: BEAM WIDTH ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To calculate the BEAM WIDTH (DIAMETER) of any fixture at any distance, use the following formula: . - Angle ---. . | . . | BEAM WIDTH = ANGLE x .018 x DISTANCE . . Dist. ------------------------------------ . . | . . | (Given: Field Angle & Distance) . . . . . . . _ |---Width---| Example 1: ---------- What is the BEAM WIDTH of an ALTMAN 360Q - 6X16 at 60 feet? Check the Fixture Tables and determine that the ALTMAN 6x16 has a 19 degree field angle. Now use the formula: WIDTH = ANGLE x .018 x DISTANCE -------------------------------- so: 19 deg. x .018 x 60' = 20.5' wide (or diameter). ---------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Calculate: FIELD ANGLE ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To calculate what FIELD ANGLE of fixture is needed to produce a given BEAM WIDTH at a given distance, use the following formula. BEAM WIDTH ANGLE = ------------ (Given Beam Width & Distance) DIST. x .018 Example 2: ---------- What ANGLE of beam spread is required to produce a 12 feet wide beam, at a distance of 35 feet. Simply use the formula: BEAM WIDTH 12' ANGLE = ------------ so: -------------- = 19 degrees. This is the 'intensity' of the light beam along the central axis. The intensity is expressed in 'candela' (sometimes candlepower) and does not vary with distance from the fixture. Central intensity can be used to compare the performance of one fixture to another (of identical degrees). C.I. can also be used to calculate illuminance. ILLUMINANCE Use the central intensity (C.I.) to calculate the ILLUMINANCE at any distance, for any fixture. The ILLUMINANCE is the 'illumination' falling on a surface - and it is expressed either in footcandles (FC) or Lux (LX). Typical stage lighting levels range from 10 to 200 FC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Calculate: ILLUMINANCE ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To calculate ILLUMINANCE (E) any distance, (given: central intensity in Candela). fixture E(fc) = I (candela) E(lux) = I (candela) ------------- ------------- I--------| DISTANCE} (ft.) The STAGE LIGHTING FIXTURE TABLES are quick reference tables to common stage lighting fixtures, and intended for use by the lighting DESIGNER, TECHNICIAN, or EDUCATOR.
These tables allow you to evaluate the performance of any particular fixture and help compare one fixture against another. Further, these tables will allow you to determine the BEAM SIZE and ILLUMINANCE of any fixture, at any distance.
Many of the world's most popular lighting fixtures are included, all manufactured in the past 25 years. Several discontinued fixtures are also shown as many are still in wide use today. New fixtures are added and the list is updated on a regular basis.
